A big piece of Hexi Love - this has been my work in progress for the last 4 years. I saw the quilt pattern originally in a blog post from Sue Garman showing some handstitched hexagon quilts. I loved the formation of the one that peaked my interest.
It was a quilt called Bolero 21609 made by Isaka Wada from Japan after she'd had a dream about making a hexagon quilt.
It's been a project that I've picked up for months but also put down for months but I am determined to finish it. It's made up of 0.5 inch hexagons and I sew it completely with invisible thread - it's no surprise that my eye sight has suffered!
I've adapted some parts of it along the way- flower baskets rather than urns and some other little tweaks.
The next layer that I'm currently working on is made up of 12 parts and I've made 2 which took me approximately 3 months. Onwards and upwards - it's a good job I've got a lot of patience!
My guess is that the original quilt had 21,609 pieces, but all I know for sure is that it's a lot!
