Hi there!

I’m Alison.

I really am in my happy place if I’m in my craft room creating, sewing, quilting and designing.  Colour and patterns are my passion.  I’m sure I’m like many of you who have an ever growing rainbow stash of fabric that I love to look at and admire, but I do also put it to good use to create beautiful things, which make me smile!

I'm absolutely obsessed with making mini quilts. Although I do love larger quilts, sometimes you need a quick fix  and mini quilts hit the button! You can make one in a weekend - that’s why I think I love making them so much. It’s all the fun of quilting but faster.

Oh my .... there’s so many possibilities!

I would love to share what I have learnt along the way with you and also hope that you have fun and enjoy quilting too!

Learn a little bit more about me

I've always loved making things. I was at my happiest as a child if my birthday and Xmas pressies consisted of craft kits. I remember hand sewing a polka dotted dress for myself when I was 10. From then on I was hooked.....

Patchwork has always captivated me. I love colour and shapes and the endless patterns that can be created, from cushions to baby quilts and my current ongoing WIP for the last 4 years - a 24,600 hexagon pieced quilt which I am sewing together by hand with invisible thread!

Currently, I work in a large department store and coach and train its staff to learn new skills. It just so happens that one of my most visited places in the store is their Haberdashery department. Ha ha funny that! I love helping them set up workshops and create projects to increase their sewing skills.

I'm happy when I can take myself off to my craft room which is a summerhouse in my garden where I can watch and listen to the birds, have a cup of tea and make something beautiful. I think quilting is a great stress reliever and allows you a little bit of escapism.

My Happy Place

My youngest child is nearly 16 now so I have time to pursue my interest more. I have gone through life very much believing that challenge is good for you and with this in mind I'm regularly seeking to learn new skills and try different things and techniques, even to the extent of piano lessons after a big birthday!

I've now started to design my own quilting patterns to express my love of colour and shapes.

When I'm not playing with patterns and fabric, you'll find me walking our 2 cocker spaniels or trying to master another hobby of mine - stained glass. I think you can guess I like to be busy.
